7 plot holes in Baahubali 2
“Wait a minute…! What was that?”
I know, I know. You’re not supposed to ask
logical questions while watching a fantasy like Baahubali 2. I had already
accepted that physics and aerodynamics works very differently in Mahishmati.
Remember the soldiers who launched themselves from the palm trees and made
those formations as if they had all done
skydiving courses?
But even apart from the skydiving and acrobatics, there were some obvious questions that came to my mind while watching the story. So here are some glaring plot holes from
Baahubali 2:
1. Why couldn’t Kattappa just
tell Baahubali everything and let him escape?
Seriously, just TALK, guys! If
Kattappa told Baahubali that he had orders to kill him, he would’ve maybe been intelligent enough to figure
out a way to handle the situation? Right? Right?
Maybe he would’ve lain low for a while and then found a way to tell Sivagami
the truth. Because, come on! It’s Baahubali and ma. Ain’t no more pavitra rishta than this!
2. Where the hell were
Sivagami’s spies when Baahubali was falling in love with Devasena?
Bhallaldev had no problem
finding out that Baahubali was in love with Devasena, even though there was NO
open declaration of love between them. On the other hand, Sivagami was utterly
clueless about this. Where were Sivagami’s spies? Does she even have spies?
3. Doesn’t the queen have any
men loyal to her apart from Kattappa?
After the queen finds out
about Bhallaldev’s conspiracy, she declares the child Shiva/Mahendra Baahubali to
be the king. Then she has to escape the king’s murderous soldiers. Didn’t she
have any loyal men to protect her while escaping the palace? Why are all the soldiers on Bhallaldev’s payroll?
Doesn’t anyone care for the just queen?
4. Who left the gate open?
Seriously, this is a big
one. When the randos attack Devasena’s kingdom, they just walk straight in
through the fort gates. Which somebody just left open. Why was the gate open
and who opened it?
5. The barefoot agni
sacrifice is supposed to have magical powers. So how come Sivagami’s barefoot
yatra didn’t result in Baahubali becoming king?
Towards the end of the
film, the whole point of Bhallaldev’s people trying to stop Devasena from
completing the barefoot yatra with the firepot on her head is that completing
it will make her wish come true – that Shiva wins over Bhallaldev. In that
case, Sivagami’s yatra should have ensured Baahubali became king. That didn’t
happen. Does this mean the yatra doesn’t have any powers?
- Why didn’t the soldiers mutiny in the war between
Bhallaldev and Baahubali II?
If Baahubali was
so awesome and everyone remembered that he was supposed to be king, then how
come the soldiers didn’t mutiny and support Baahubali? Or are the soldiers just
trained to obey orders, and in that case, is Baahubali really all that special?
- How did that giant painting of Devasena get
completed so quickly?
I mean,
Bhallaldev sees the mini painting of Devasena, and the next day he shows a
giant version of it to Sivagami. There’s only one explanation. Superdry paint
was actually invented in Mahishmati.
And then of course, there a lot of smaller
plot holes and hanging questions like, “What happened to Siva’s adoptive mother
at the end?” and “Why didn’t Baahubali wait for witnesses to appear and the trial to end before he
cut off the molester Senapati’s head?”
Right.
There is difference btween a freelancer waching a movie and an ordinary cinegoer.

...If the director looked at those aspects in your review , which are no doubt quite substantive., ...the story wouldnot have been a commercial

Agreed, Uncle. And the movie is meant to be a commercial one only... Just thought I'd have some fun and write about stuff that seemed obvious to me while watching. I think the first part had much better writing, in spite of being commercial.
